Just do your research before you enroll. Most colleges and universities only accept credit from regionally accredited institutions. Such accreditations are Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and Western Association of Schools and Colleges. If the school does not have one of these accreditations then it would be wise to choose another school. I work for a university and we see students coming in with a Bachelors degree from an unaccredited institution, which means they are coming into our university as a Freshman. They have to start all over. Do your homework. You never know what the future has in store for you. Keep your options open with a regionally accredited college or university.

If you can afford it (and I don’t know the price of most online schools like U of Phoenix) I’d recommend getting a degree from Penn State’s World Campus or another well known State school which holds the exact same weight as a normal degree from that school.

There are a lot of online colleges out there to choose from. I am in the same situation as you. I work outside the home and I have three children. This is the only way I will be able to get a degree because I can not sit in a class all day. I plan to attend this fall. Try Phoenix University online, University of Maryland University College (that’s where I am hoping to go and Kaplan University. These I know are reputable where people are getting degrees that they can have a career with. Beware of the bogus colleges and universities advertised online that say you can get a degree based solely on life experiences and cost about $500.00, those are degree mills and illegal. Good Luck I know you can succeed.
